Purpose of your Position - Non Union

Classification Summary - Union

A Security & Access Technician designs, installs, maintains, and repairs the components and infrastructure related to security and access systems. The S.A.T responds to service requests & alarms, supports capital projects, oversees and directs contractors, and supports the City of Kelowna security needs. (ie. RCMP , Risk, Bylaw & IT departments).

Duties - Union

  • Design, install, maintain, and repair security systems, access systems, CCTV equipment, panic & duress systems, data systems, other related electronic technologies, and the electrical and data infrastructure to support these systems.
  • Monitors contractors involved in the installation, maintenance and repair of security & access systems.
  • Maintain, update and troubleshoot security and access system software, working closely with the IT department to ensure system security and reliability.
  • Provide support for capital projects including design & plan review, specification development, equipment & infrastructure recommendation, and participation as the IPD lead for Security & Access systems.
  • Oversee and direct the contractor’s responsible for maintenance and repair of elevators.
  • Directly supports the priorities of the Risk Management and Community Safety departments, working closely with their key stakeholders.
  • Ensures all work is completed in compliance with Technical Safety British Columbia, building code, health and safety, and other applicable regulations.
  • Prepares and maintains a variety of correspondence and documentation.
