Job summary

RBC in Toronto is seeking a Settlement Analyst to settle or process all transactions assigned daily with accuracy and timeliness. You will coordinate settlements for securities and resolve trade exceptions while maintaining strong product knowledge and customer service.

The role requires a good understanding of the settlement trade life cycle, effective communication, and the ability to work independently in a busy environment within North American business hours.

Qualifications

• Post‑secondary education or equivalent.
• Good understanding of settlement trade life cycle.
• 0 - 1 year of relevant experience (preferably in a banking environment).
• Strong communication skills.
• Good computer skills.
• Ability to work independently and to solve problems using knowledge and experience.

Responsibilities

• Process the settlements of securities and handle all trade exceptions on a timely basis.
• Possess good knowledge of the products and systems required to accomplish daily responsibilities.
• Portray a high level of knowledge of Securities Settlements and its various functions.
• Be able to reconcile account differences and issues and articulate to the proper channels what the issues are.
• Have excellent communication skills in order to work with coworkers and internal clients alike.
• Provide a high level of customer service.
• Have the ability to deal with high volumes of trades to ensure settlement.
• Reduce risk and cost to the firm by escalating all potential issues to management.
• Assist management with any ad hoc requirements / tasks.
• Be a team player who collaborates well with associates and management.
• Strictly adhere to all firm policies and procedure.
• Have proficient skills in Windows based products such as Outlook, Word, Excel.
• Have the ability to multi task in a pressured environment.
• Remain up to date on a number of desks so as to be able to back fill throughout the year.
• Interface with various business lines and branches along with counter-party operations teams to rectify any settlement discrepancies.
