Job summary

Murphy is recruiting for a Section Engineer to work on the Western Gas – Western Import Resilience Pipeline project. The role focuses on resolving technical problems, inspections, survey data, and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards across large civil works.

You will engage with Top Level Management and senior clients, overseeing setting out, surveying and safe systems of work while coordinating with site teams and management to meet project KPIs.

Qualifications

• Experience in large civil engineering projects.
• Experience within Oil or Gas, Substations or Linear Cables.
• Ability to communicate and present to Top Level Management and senior clients.
• Excellent knowledge of current civil engineering legislation, Health & Safety and Environmental legislation.
• Ability to discuss engineering issues with people across levels and disciplines.
• Ability to produce, implement and manage safe systems of work for construction procedures.
• Experienced in surveying and setting out techniques.
• Sound understanding of Quality, Safety, Health, Environmental and Sustainability project requirements.

• Ensure equipment is calibrated, in date and checked according to policy.

• Assist Site Management to update KPIs, material reconciliation and progress reports.

A day in the life of a Murphy Section Engineer:

Resolving technical problems at all levels.
Carry out inspections in accordance with the Inspection and Test Plan in a timely manner.
The production of survey information and red lined drawings for the completion of the As‑built records.
Ensure equipment is calibrated, in date and suitable checked in accordance with company policies and the manufacturers defined requirements.
Ensure construction operations are carried out in accordance with the Contract requirements using the appropriate procedures.
Ensure all site personnel have clear, accurate and appropriate information to carry out their duties.
Supervises the outputs and confirms that the project environmental requirements are met.
Ensure all materials on site are suitable, stored in line with manufacturers recommendations current working practice, contract specification or project requirements.
Assist the Site Management team to update KPIs, material reconciliation and progress reports.
