Job summary

Murphy in Canada is seeking an Environmental Advisor to drive best practices in health, safety, environment and sustainability on major projects. You will work with SHES to inspect sites, ensure compliance, and lead investigations when incidents occur.

You will collate data, identify trends, and support project teams in implementing environmental controls, licenses, and pollution prevention measures across our Canada portfolio.

Qualifications

• Experience in an Environmental Advisory role.
• Working knowledge of environmental law in construction.
• Understanding of practical environmental risk mitigation on major projects.

Responsibilities

• Establish and promote best practice in environmental matters with SHES.

A day in the life of a Murphy Environmental Advisor:

• Establish and promote best practice in environmental and sustainability matters in conjunction with the SHES function.
• Carry out regular inspections of sites and workplaces to determine whether work is being carried out in accordance with Company Policy, Procedures, and the relevant Statutory Provisions
• Carry out incident investigations in accordance with the Company procedure and, analysing all data, making recommendations to avoid any reoccurrences.
• Collate Business / Contract environmental and sustainability statistics in a timely manner and submit to SHES Management & SHES function for reporting purposes.
• Review Environmental information to identify trends and areas for improvement
• Develop and implement Environment & Sustainability campaigns and improvement plans in agreement with the SHES Management
• Advise and support project teams with managing their environmental and sustainability responsibilities.
• Provide advice, support, and assistance to all project personnel to enable them to manage their environmental responsibilities.
• Identify significant Environmental issues for the project and help set-up projects to include appropriate controls.
• Identify Environmental & Ecology consents / permits or exemptions that are required and ensure they are obtained.
• Maintain records as necessary to ensure compliance with Legislation, Company procedures and Contract Requirements
• Working in a small team of environmental specialists and liaising with third-party environment and ecology consultants
• Working and sharing best practices with an ever-growing E&S function

  • Consents, licencing and DCO/TCPA planning discharge experience

  • Biodiversity Net Gain
  • Statutory nuisance
  • Contaminated land
• Associate ISEP membership working towards PISEP is desirable (we can support this transition)
