Job summary

An established educational institution is seeking dedicated secondary occasional teachers to join their roster. This role is ideal for qualified candidates who are available to work 3-5 days a week during the school year. Applicants should possess the Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification and demonstrate excellent communication skills, along with a strong knowledge of the Ontario curriculum. The position requires flexibility, as teachers will work on a call-in basis and may travel throughout the region. Title: Secondary Occasional Teacher Roster

Position Open To: Internal and External Applicants

Posting Overview:

The Lambton Kent District School Board serves more than 21,000 students in 50 elementary and 12 secondary schools across Sarnia-Lambton and Chatham-Kent.

Prospective qualified secondary teachers that meet the following criteria are encouraged to apply.

  • Must be available to start working immediately or once OCT has been processed.
  • Must be available to work a minimum of 3-5 days/week.
  • Must be available to work 10 months of the school year.
  • Must be willing to travel throughout Chatham-Kent and/or Sarnia-Lambton.
  • Must be available to work on a daily occasional basis.
  • Must be available to work on a last-minute, call-in basis.

Prospective candidates currently enrolled in teachers college are encouraged to apply.

Successful applicants will be expected to commence employment immediately or once they become OCT qualified (for new graduates/current students).

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification.
  • Qualifications in French, Ojibwe, or Lenape language are an asset.
  • Additional qualifications are an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current Ontario curriculum and assessment, evaluation, and reporting practices.
  • Excellent communication skills in order to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff.
  • Demonstrates positive interaction and collaboration as part of the school team.
  • Applies consistent and fair classroom management.
  • Experience working with youth in a variety of settings.
  • Experience working with diverse cultures including First Nations, Métis, and Inuit.
  • Ability to integrate technology into curriculum.
