Job summary

Dexterra is hiring a Second Cook in Burnaby, British Columbia. The role focuses on supporting kitchen operations, preparing sandwiches, and maintaining high sanitation standards in line with Food Safe protocols.

You will handle cold food prep, ensure proper storage, and help set up a complete salad bar for lunch and dinner. Ideal candidates have substantial cooking experience, FoodSafe Level I, and a willingness to meet WHMIS testing requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of cooking experience in a similar or institutional setting.
• FoodSafe Level I certification required; HACCP certification is an asset.
• Ability to obtain 80% or higher on the WHMIS test.

Responsibilities

• Assist in overall kitchen operations and maintenance and sanitize designated kitchen areas, tools, and dishes.
• Prepare food items for sandwiches by selecting bread, slicing meats and cheese, and assembling fillings.
• Visually inspect cold food for color, presentation, and freshness; ensure proper storage in refrigerators and freezers.
• Set up a full salad bar for lunch and dinner; manage stock to maintain fresh quantities.
