Job summary

Town of Strathmore is seeking a Seasonal Parks Operator to maintain outdoor amenities and contribute to the beauty and usability of Strathmore parks. The role is outdoors across varying weather conditions and requires hand and power tool use.

This seasonal position runs September through December 31, 2026, with a typical 40-hour week and potential on-call rotations in winter. Candidates should have Grade 12 or equivalent and an Alberta Driver’s License with a clean abstract.

Strathmore is seeking a Seasonal Parks Operator for our fall/winter season; September – December 31st, 2026.

What You’ll Do:

Reporting to the Parks Supervisor, the Seasonal Parks Operator will play an integral role in maintaining outdoor amenities and making Strathmore a beautiful and enjoyable place for all who live here and visit us. This role will work primarily outdoors, in varying weather conditions. The work can be physically demanding, and requires daily usage of hand and power tools, handling of chemicals, and operation of work vehicles. This seasonal role requires candidates to be available to work the fall/ winter season, with the ability to be in an on‑call rotation for the winter months, ending on December 31st, 2026 (with a possibility to extend pending budget approval).

Hours:

The work week is typically Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week and may include weekend and statutory holiday coverage shifts, as required.

Successful applicants will demonstrate on their resume:
  • Grade 12 education or equivalent
  • Alberta Driver’s License with a clean drivers abstract
  • Ability to operate various maintenance equipment and tools
  • Previous parks/landscaping experience considered an asset
