Job summary

• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report issues to Supervisor.
• Support tree removal and drainage work as needed.
• Identify safety issues and report them to Supervisor.
• Keep public and staff facilities clean and maintained to standards.

Salary: $25.55 to $31.27 per hour

Wage Benefits:

• 5.6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays.
• 6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay.

We are looking to hire a Park Maintenance Worker 2 to work during the winter season from November 2026 to March 2027. This position is an integral member of the wider Camrose District Maintenance team and depending on workload and staffing needs may be required to work at various sites in this Region, primarily at Cooking Lake Blackfoot Recreation Area near Sherwood Park and Miquelon Lake Provincial Park near Camrose.

The majority of your work time will be spent outdoors with a primary focus on grooming and maintaining trails.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Maintaining trail systems using chainsaws, chippers, trimmers, hand tools and lawn mowers.
• Operating power and hand tools to complete repairs and preventative maintenance tasks.
• Operating equipment such as UTVs, riding lawnmowers, tractors, and winter trail grooming equipment.
• Completing daily routine vehicle inspection and performing daily maintenance as required; reporting any mechanical or operational issues to the Supervisor.
• Supporting tree removal and drainage work as needed.
• Identifying and addressing potential public or employee safety issues while in the parks and reporting to the Supervisor.
• Ensuring public and staff facilities are clean and maintained to Alberta Parks’ standards. Vault toilet cleaning, disposing of garbage and keeping areas neat and clean.

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

• Ensure there is adherence to all pertinent policies, procedures, and protocols, including Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) and following Government of Alberta guidelines.
• If needed, participate in emergency protocols to provide support to visitors and staff in an emergency situation.
• Practice safe work procedures and adhere to the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) when using cleaning chemicals.

Qualifications

Required:

• Some high school education and one year of related experience in landscaping or trail maintenance with preference for experience with equipment operation and trail grooming background.
• Experience with performing demanding physical tasks, outdoors and in a variety of weather conditions.

Additional requirements (must be submitted prior to employment):

• Recognized Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level “C”/AED Certification (must be maintained as current for the entire period of hire by the employee).
• Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent with less than 6 demerits.

Assets:

• Experience operating a variety of tools and equipment.
• Experience with working in demanding environments and meeting deadlines using good organizational and time management skills.
• Experience working independently and in a team, with a positive and inclusive work attitude.
• Good problem solving and adaptability skills to identify mechanical or operational issues.
• Familiarity with Cooking Lake - Blackfoot Provincial Recreation Area and surrounding area.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and understanding of Microsoft Office software.
• Well-developed written English skills to effectively communicate with others.

Minimum recruitment standards outline the minimum education and experience required for appointment to a job classification.

• This position is based on a 40-hour work week, from November 2026 to March 2027.
• Hours of employment are up to 40 hours per week, 8-hour shifts.
• Weekend, evening and night work will be required; premium is paid for these shifts.
• Flexibility in scheduling is required to meet operational needs.
• Must be physically able to perform the manual duties found in the position assignment.
• Must have access to reliable transportation to and from work.
