Qualifications

• Maintain greenhouse and assist with seed preparation.

Job description

THE OPPORTUNITY

We have multiple openings for Nursery and Seed Orchard Labourers at our Saanich Forestry Centre in Saanichton, BC. On-the-job training provided!

Contract Details

• Length of contract: 2 months (May – June) with possible extension
• Shifts: 7:30am - 4:30pm (Mon-Thurs) and 7:30am-1:00pm (Fri); full-time preferred, part-time shifts possible
• Starting wage: $19.40 plus performance-based incentives

Responsibilities

• Plant, mulch, and care for trees
• Cone harvesting using ladders
• Hand weeding
• Harvesting vegetative material with hand clippers
• Collecting and applying pollen
• Extracting seedlings from greenhouses with a team
• Handling, quality grading, and packaging seedlings
• Lifting and transporting seedling boxes
• Greenhouse end-of-season cleanup
• Prepping and sowing seeds
• Bending and lifting seedlings
• Thinning seedlings
• Greenhouse maintenance

Qualifications

Assets

• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Experience with mobile equipment (forklift, manlift)
