Job summary

Lakes District Maintenance, part of Volker Stevin, is seeking an Auxiliary Highway Maintenance Worker & Operator in Dease Lake, BC. This full-time, seasonal role supports highway maintenance, operating heavy trucks and equipment, and ensuring safety and efficiency in challenging outdoor conditions.

You will contribute to roadside maintenance, snow and ice control, and reporting through documentation, while upholding safety standards and company performance expectations.

Qualifications

• Valid BC Class 3 license with air brake endorsement and a clean driving record.
• 2+ years’ highway maintenance experience preferred.
• Experience operating graders is an asset.
• Strong knowledge of safety rules and Motor Vehicle Act regulations.

Responsibilities

• Promote safety culture and a productive work environment.
• Operate equipment and perform road maintenance tasks (snow/ice, roadside, traffic control, etc.).
• Inspect, maintain, and operate equipment per company standards and report defects.
• Complete required documentation (fuel logs, road reports, maintenance records).
• Apply company performance standards to highway maintenance activities.
