Job summary

Lakes District Maintenance, part of the Volker Stevin family, is seeking an Auxiliary Highway Maintenance Worker & Machine Operator in Burns Lake, BC. The role focuses on safe operation of heavy trucks and equipment for highway maintenance, with a strong emphasis on safety, teamwork, and practical, hands-on work.

You will perform road surface maintenance tasks, report daily operations, and support incident response while adhering to safety and regulatory standards in a physically demanding

Qualifications

• Valid BC Class 3 with air brake endorsement is required.
• 2+ years' highway maintenance experience preferred.
• Experience operating graders is an asset.
• Good working knowledge of the Motor Vehicle Act and Regulations.
• Solid understanding of safety rules for vehicle and equipment operation.
• Mechanical and operational aptitude.
• Physically fit and able to work outdoors in varying conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment and perform manual road maintenance tasks.
• Promote safety culture and maintain productive environment.
• Inspect, maintain, and report equipment to standards.
• Complete fuel logs, road reports, and maintenance records.
• Follow company performance standards for highway maintenance.
