Job summary

Lakes District Maintenance, part of the Volker Stevin family, is seeking an Auxiliary Highway Maintenance Worker & Machine Operator for seasonal field duties in British Columbia. The role focuses on safe operation of heavy trucks and equipment for highway maintenance, with emphasis on safety, teamwork, and physical stamina.

Ideal candidates hold a BC Class 3 license with air brake endorsement, have 2+ years in highway maintenance, and are comfortable working outdoors in varying weather

Qualifications

• Valid BC Class 3 license with air brake endorsement and clean driving record.
• 2+ years’ highway maintenance experience preferred.
• Experience operating graders is an asset.
• Knowledge of the Motor Vehicle Act and Regulations.
• Safety rules and regulations for driving and operating vehicles and machinery.
• Mechanical and operational aptitude.
• Physically fit and able to work outdoors in varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Promote safety culture and a productive work environment.
• Operate highway maintenance equipment and perform manual labour duties.
• Inspect, maintain, and report equipment issues promptly.
• Complete fuel logs, road reports, and safety documentation.
• Be prepared to relocate for the season and work from assigned yards.
