Job summary

Factors Farms in the Okanagan, an exquisite certified-organic farmland, is seeking a Seasonal Farm Worker to support the growth of medicinal herbs in line with sustainability goals. This role involves physical outdoor work in hot and cold conditions across multiple sites.

The worker will perform seeding, transplanting, irrigation setup, weeding, soil preparation and harvesting tasks, contributing to high-quality raw materials for our nutritional products.

Qualifications

• Capable of performing all job duties including frequent walking and standing, squatting, bending, kneeling, lifting up to 30 kg, and working in hot, cold, indoor and outdoor environments.

Responsibilities

• Seeding in greenhouse.
• Planting seedlings in the ground at Kelowna and Armstrong farms.
• Weeding, tending to plants, tilling and fertilizing.
• Soil and fertilizer mixing.
• Installing irrigation systems.
• Laying down fabric for weed control.
• Watering crops with irrigation system.
• Cultivating crops.
• Hand picking crops.
• Loading trucks for delivery.

The Seasonal Farm Worker cares for all agricultural duties to ensure the growth of high-quality medicinal herbs and plants and takes into consideration the company’s commitment to sustainability (people, the planet, and profit) in the planning and implementation of all actions related to the area of responsibility.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Seeding in greenhouse
• Planting seedlings in the ground (at both Kelowna and Armstrong farms)
• Weeding, tending to plants, tilling, and fertilizing
• Mixing soil and fertilizer
• Installing irrigation systems
• Laying down fabric for weed control
• Watering crops using irrigation system
• Cultivating crops
• Hand picking crops
• Loading trucks for delivery
• Other duties to support the healthy growth of our plants as assigned

Requirements:

• Capable to perform all job duties including frequent walking and standing, squatting, bending, and kneeling, frequent twisting, reaching above shoulder level, below shoulder level, and below chest level, lifting up to 30kgs, and the ability to work in hot, cold, indoor and outdoor environments
• Strong work ethic
• Capable of and willing to take direction
• Ability to work independently at times
• Experience with the following will be considered an asset:
• Farming
• Operating farming equipment (including tractors, loaders, etc.)
• Set up, operate and troubleshooting of irrigation systems
