Job summary

Jealous Fruits Ltd. is seeking a Farm Manager to lead field operations in the North Okanagan area. You will organize work teams, monitor progress, and ensure timely, high-quality fruit picking while maintaining food safety standards.

You will communicate progress to the Director of Field Operations, train staff, and coordinate harvest activities. The role requires a hands-on, people-centered leader who can handle long hours during peak season.

Qualifications

• Formal education, technical certificate, and/or extensive work experience in fruit orchard production and management preferred.
• Farming background and production experience will be considered an asset.
• Ability to work independently and meet daily farming demands.
• Sound knowledge of health and safety standards and safe farming practices.
• willingness to work long hours during harvest months (July & August).
• Class 5 driver’s license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Manage employees (team leaders and farm workers) to ensure tasks are completed.
• Instruct and coordinate harvest activities to meet quality and food safety guidelines.
• Train staff and enforce safe work procedures and food safety regulations.
• Collaborate with Director of Field Operations on day-to-day operations.
• Manage worker camp and ensure adherence to company policies and safety rules.
• Operate farm equipment when additional help is needed.
• Maintain on-site equipment and appliances; ensure camp is tidy and compliant.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

We are currently looking for a Farm Manager to join our team. Under the direction of the Director of Field Operations, the Farm Manager will organize work teams, monitor progress, and ensure quality compliance. During the demands of harvest, you will be required to communicate progress to the Director of Field Operations, ensure fruit is picked in a timely manner, and the quality of picking meets company standards. The successful candidate must be people-centered, supportive, and flexible in order to create a positive work environment. Formal education, technical certificate, and/or extensive work experience in fruit orchard production, and management is preferred.

Duties and responsibilities

• Manage employees under thei supervision (team leaders and farm workers) ensuring job tasks are successfully completed.
• Instruct, organize, and coordinate employees during harvest ensuring all guidelines of proper picking practices are being followed to ensure fruit quality and always adhere to food safety regulations.
• Ensure the employees are trained and follow the safe work procedures and food safety regulations of the company.
• Collaborate with the Director of Field Operations to ensure day-to-day operations are successfully completed.
• Manage the worker camp and ensure all employees are following company policies and safety regulations.
• Operate farm equipment when additional help is required.
• Implement strategies to ensure the camp residence remains tidy and all company rules and regulations are being followed.
• Ensure on-site equipment and appliances are properly maintained.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
• Farming background and experience in planning and production will be considered an asset.
• Ability to work independently and have technical and practical competence to meet the daily demands of farming.
• Possess a sound knowledge of health and safety standards and a commitment to promoting safe farming practices.
• Ability to work long hours especially during the harvest months of July and August.
• Spanish will be considered an asset.
• Class 5 driver’s license, and clean drivers abstract

Working conditions

Our working environment is extremely challenging over a short period of time. Applicants should be aware that this is a farming environment and days off may be limited during our growing and packing season.

• Work hours are not calendar based, but are dependent on crop maturity and weather
• Candidates must be willing to work in all weather conditions
• Work hours are generally at 50+ hours per week (during peak season).
• Overtime provisions do not apply for Agricultural workers
• The candidate must have the ability to work well with people of varying backgrounds and nationalities.
• This position will be year-round however from late November to early February hours will be reduced.
