Job summary

Five Star Mushrooms Ltd. in Aldergrove, BC is hiring Harvesting Labourers for a mushroom farm. This full-time, permanent role offers 30–60 hours per week and a choice of hourly wage or piece rate, with on-going on-the-job training.

You will sort, weigh, pack, and load mushrooms, maintain cleanliness, follow safety standards, and work in a humid, temperature-controlled environment. No prior education or experience required.

Responsibilities

• Pick, sort, weigh, and clean mushrooms to quality standards.
• Pack and load mushrooms for farm transport.
• Load, unload, and transfer crates, farm produce, supplies and products for transport.
• Organize, clean and maintain racks and trays used for harvested mushrooms.
• Perform repetitive harvesting and handling tasks in a fast-paced agricultural environment.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas and comply with food safety and hygiene standards.
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures and employer instructions at all times.

Hours of Work: 30–60 hours per week

Wage, Vacation & Benefits:

• Hourly Wage: $18.25 per hour
• OR
• Piece Rate: $0.340 – $0.442 per lb (whichever is higher, in compliance with BC Employment Standards)
• Vacation Pay: 4% of gross wages
• Annual Performance Bonus: Available based on productivity and performance

Job Duties

The Harvesting Labourer will be responsible for the following duties:

• Picking, sorting, weighing, and cleaning mushrooms according to quality standards
• Packing and loading mushrooms for farm transport
• Loading, unloading, and transferring crates, farm produce, supplies, and products for transport
• Organizing, cleaning, and maintaining racks and trays used for harvested mushrooms
• Performing repetitive harvesting and handling tasks in a fast-paced agricultural environment
• Maintaining cleanliness of work areas and complying with food safety and hygiene standards
• Following workplace health and safety procedures and employer instructions at all times

Work Environment

• Indoor agricultural (mushroom growing) environment
• Physically demanding work involving standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive movements
• Humid and temperature-controlled conditions

Working Abilities and Physical Capabilities:

• Heavy lifting required
• Ability to work long hours, early mornings and weekends is required
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Work hours and shift schedules may vary according to production needs
