Job summary

Food World Plus is seeking a Seafood Department Supervisor to assist the Department Head in leading daily operations, ensuring top-quality seafood, and delivering outstanding customer experiences.

The role requires hands-on leadership, attention to detail, and strong knowledge of food safety, FIFO, and inventory management. You will supervise staff, train teammates, and help maintain a welcoming, well-merchandised store environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in seafood, meat, or fresh food retail (supervisory experience preferred).
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
• Solid understanding of food safety and sanitation standards.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Strong numerical and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the Department Head in supervising daily operations.
• Provide guidance, direction, and support to Seafood Associates.
• Ensure fair distribution of tasks and efficient workflow execution.
• Lead by example in professionalism, teamwork, and customer service.
• Assist in staff training, onboarding, and performance feedback.
• Schedule team members and delegate work assignments effectively.
• Ensure the highest standards of freshness, quality, and food safety.
• Monitor product handling, storage, labeling, and rotation (FIFO).
• Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and hygiene standards across the department.
• Adhere to all workplace health & safety procedures.
• Deliver exceptional customer service by engaging with customers and providing product knowledge.
• Handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints professionally.
• Support a welcoming and informative shopping experience.
• Manage inventory levels, ordering, and stock rotation.
• Conduct regular quality checks and control shrink/spoilage.
• Maintain appealing product displays, signage, and case presentation.
• Ensure proper merchandising and product mix to maximize sales.
• Track and maintain records of inventory and operational processes.
• Assist in sourcing seafood products and maintaining supplier relationships.
• Support pricing, cost control, and profitability targets.
• Interpret market trends and provide feedback to management.
• Assist in planning and execution of promotional activities.

Working Conditions

• Ability to stand for extended periods

• Willingness to work in cold (0–4°C), freezing (-18°C), and wet environments
• Flexible availability including weekdays, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays
• Must not have allergies related to seafood handling
