Job summary

Sobeys is hiring for a Seafood Clerk to assist customers, prepare seafood, and maintain a clean counter. You will greet shoppers, price products, and help with nutrition and grilling questions.

Experience in seafood or grocery retail is helpful; training will be provided. The role requires ability to work evenings and weekends in a fast-paced store environment.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in seafood or grocery retail is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Upholds company procedures, standards and policies.

• Use of hand wrapper and scale for packaging.
• Price seafood for sale.
• Wash and cut fish for the counter.
• Fill the counter and displays with products.
• Clean and sanitize work areas.

A Day In The Life Of a Seafood Clerk

You will deal directly with customers and answer questions on everything from grilling to nutrition. Our highly skilled Seafood Clerks are trained here to prepare the outstanding quality selections that Safeway has built its reputation on. Become part of the team that offers our customers some of our best-selling products.

Experience

• Preference will be given to candidates with previous Seafood experience
• Safeway specific training will be provided

Key Responsibilities

• Upholds and complies with company procedures, standards and policies in all situations
• Greets customers in a polite and friendly manner
• Demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with Safeway's programs
• Use of hand wrapper and scale
• Pricing seafood for sale
• Washing and cutting fish for seafood counter
• Filling counter and showcases
• Cleaning and sanitizing work area
• Working with raw as well as cooked seafood
