Job summary

Burnaby School District is seeking a Science and Chemistry Teacher for Cariboo Hill Secondary. This temporary full-time position runs ASAP to approximately December 17, 2026, teaching Science 9/10 and Chemistry 11. Salary is based on the Teachers' Salary Grid with placement determined by experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree or academic equivalent in an appropriate field of study.
• A valid BC Teaching Certificate.
• A relevant methodology course.
• Recent, successful, substantive teaching or practicum experience in the relevant grade level.
• Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science, Bachelor of Education degree or academic equivalent.
• Science courses at the 300/400 level equal to 18 credits in Biology, Chemistry and Physics relevant to the prescribed curriculum.
• Science methodology course.

Responsibilities

• Teach Science (Science 9 and 10; Chemistry 11) at Cariboo Hill Secondary.
• Deliver effective instruction in a diverse urban district and support student learning.
• Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to school programs and professional practice.

Science and Chemistry Teacher – Cariboo Hill Secondary

Temporary Full-time: ASAP to approximately December 17, 2026

As one of the largest, most progressive and diverse urban districts in the province, Burnaby provides comprehensive educational programs and services to a diverse population of 25,000 full-time and 17,000 part-time learners. The district operates 41 elementary and 8 secondary schools, plus a number of additional facilities and district programs.

Burnaby School District invites applications from qualified Teachers for a temporary full-time position at Cariboo Hill Secondary, teaching Science (Science 9 and 10; Chemistry 11).

Required Teacher Qualifications:

• A bachelor's degree or academic equivalent in an appropriate field of study;
• A relevant methodology course
• A valid BC Teaching Certificate
• Recent, successful, substantive teaching or practicum experience in the relevant grade level

Science Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science, Bachelor of Education degree or academic equivalent
• Science courses at the 300/400 level equal to 18 credits in subject areas such as Biology, Chemistry and Physics which are relevant to the prescribed curriculum
• Science methodology course

Job Type: Full-Time (1.0) fte, temporary to approximately December 17, 2026

Salary and Benefits:

• Salary Range: $66,248 to $116,637 per annum based on Teachers' Salary Grid
• Placement on salary scale will be determined by years of experience and qualifications in accordance collective agreement.
