Job summary

St. Clair Catholic District School Board in Ontario seeks a Social Worker (10 month) to support students with diverse needs in a school setting. You will provide evidence-based counseling, collaborate with teachers and families, and contribute to IEP/Learning Assistance Plans.

The ideal candidate holds a social work degree, is registered in Ontario, and demonstrates strong communication, assessment, and crisis management skills to promote student wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Degree in Social Work; MSW preferred.
• Registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated clinical assessment and planning abilities.
• Experience documenting services per policy requirements.

Responsibilities

• Relate to and communicate with students, parents and professionals.
• Address student needs through an evidence-based lens.
• Provide individual and group therapy using CBT, trauma care, DBT, play therapy, etc.
• Document services in accordance with board policy.
• Maintain school visit schedules and provide updates to the supervisor.
• Collaborate with school personnel to support at-risk students.
• Assist in development of Mental Health goals in IEPs/Learning Plans.
• Support staff in understanding developmental needs of students and families.
• Attend intake meetings and coordinate community referrals as needed.
• Adhere to suicide prevention protocols and create safety plans.
• Work with multi-disciplinary team members to support students.
• Serve as liaison between home and school and via home visits when necessary.
• Refer students to external agencies following the board’s pathway of care.
