Qualifications

  • Grade 10 or equivalency.
  • Food Safe Certificate.
  • Class 5 Driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Experience in a similar role considered an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and set priorities.
  • WHMIS Certificate and safety training to be completed within probation.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to be an integral part of a team.
  • Must pass a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Search prior to starting.

Responsibilities

  • Purchases groceries as required as economically as possible.
  • Complies student meal lists collected from each classroom teacher monthly.
  • Ensures all food is prepared and handled according to Food Safe requirements.
  • Ensures allergy list requirements are met.
  • Ensures food prepared meets nutritional requirements per Canadian Food Guide.
  • Coordinates with Site Administrative Officer(s) and District Health & Safety Supervisor with Health Inspector liaison.
  • Maintains the work environment per Government Standards.
  • Assembles and delivers lunches to classes.
  • Maintains and administers records and collects and submits monies received.
  • Performs other duties as directed by site Administrative Officer(s).

Job description

SCHOOL MEALS PROGRAM

There is a position available for the School Meals Program with School District No. 60. Applications must be completed online via the website and will be accepted until 12:00 pm noon on September 15, 2026. This position will be deployed to various school locations throughout the District as needed.

Reporting to the site Administrative Officer(s), and the District Food Program Coordinator, this position is responsible for purchasing groceries and assembling prepared foods and beverages for student lunches and delivering lunches to each classroom using student lists that are compiled on a monthly basis. The days and hours of work will be Tuesday to Thursday however, hours may vary within these days. This position requires flexibility within the weekly schedule as there will be some days that may be adjusted to accommodate staff coverage, school events, or operational needs.

Hours of work: (5.0) hrs/day, (3) days per week - (Tuesday to Thursday)

Duties to Commence: As soon as possible after closing and ending June 4, 2027

Work Base Year: 10 Months

Commencing Salary: $28.06/hr.

Duties to be assigned include:

  1. Purchases groceries as required as economically as possible.
  2. Complies student meal lists collected from each classroom teacher on a monthly basis.
  3. Ensures all food is prepared and handled in accordance with Food Safe requirements.
  4. Ensures allergy list requirements are met.
  5. Ensures food prepared meets the nutritional requirements as outlines by the Canadian Food Guide.
  6. Works in conjunction with the Site Administrative Officer(s) and DistrictHealth and Safety Supervisor to act as liaise with Health Inspector.
  7. Maintains the work environment in accordance with Government Standards.
  8. Assembles and delivers lunches to classes.
  9. Maintains and administers records and collects and submits monies received.
  10. Performs other job related duties as directed by the site Administrative Officer(s).

Qualifications:

  • Grade 10 or equivalency
  • Food Safe Certificate
  • Class 5 Driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle
  • Experience in a similar role considered an asset
  • Ability to work independently and set priorities
  • W.H.M.I.S. Certificate and other online safety training provide by the District to be completed within the probationary period
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to be an integral part of a team
  • Must be able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Search conducted by the District prior to starting employment
