Job summary

The Government of Yukon’s Department of Education is seeking a School Facility Maintenance Worker to support coordination of school maintenance requests and repairs across Yukon schools, monitor concerns, complete minor repairs, and coordinate work with HPW and external contractors.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will respond to facility safety issues, improve safe, functional environments, and communicate with school administrators, staff, and service partners.

Qualifications

  • Experience performing general building/facility maintenance and minor repairs, including repairs to equipment, furniture, fixtures, or appliances.
  • Experience responding to and following up on maintenance requests including facility related health and safety concerns or work orders, and tracking the status of outstanding work.
  • Experience providing client/customer service and communicating effectively with a variety of clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Experience working in schools, institutional buildings, commercial facilities, or a similar facility-maintenance environment.
  • Experience conducting facility, equipment, or playground safety inspections would be an asset.
  • Experience using a computerized maintenance/work-order management system, such as Archibus would be an asset.

Job Summary and Requirements

We are currently seeking a talented individual to join the Operations team. Reporting to the Director, Operations, the School Facility Maintenance Worker supports the coordination of school maintenance requests and repair needs throughout Yukon schools. The position is responsible for monitoring and responding to maintenance concerns, completing minor repairs, coordinating required work with Highways and Public Works (HPW) and external contractors, and following up to ensure maintenance issues are addressed in a timely manner. The position also supports safe, functional, and well-maintained school environments by responding to facility-related safety concerns and emergencies and maintaining effective communication with school administrators, staff, and service partners.

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.
