Job summary

Autism Services in Saskatchewan seeks a dedicated School Bus Driver to provide safe transportation for students during the term. You will operate school buses/van, assist students boarding and exiting, and follow all SGI regulations and district policies.

Responsibilities include reporting maintenance, keeping logs, attending meetings, and ensuring students arrive home safely with a guardian. Requires Class 5 licence with S endorsement, First Aid/CPR, and criminal record check.

Qualifications

• Class 5 licence with S endorsement; not a novice driver.
• First Aid / CPR certification.
• Successful medical examination prior to employment.
• Ability to work independently.
• Patient, helpful, and pleasant manner.
• Criminal record check (vulnerable sector) and pre-employment drug test.

Responsibilities

• Provide school transportation services for the community, including substitution driving and other routes as directed.
• Report and obtain prior approval on all required maintenance and repairs.
• Maintain an operators log including daily odometer log sheets and other information as required.
• Maintain cleanliness of the transportation unit daily for sanitation and operation.
• Be knowledgeable in the owner's manual for vans/buses operated, ensuring maintenance per Highway Traffic Act Saskatchewan.
• Attend bussing and school transportation meetings, seminars, and workshops.
• Ensure students arrive home safely with a parent/guardian.
• Abide by the Education Bus Suspension Policy and report all incidents.
• Assist students with boarding and exiting as required.
• Uphold SGI School Bus Driver Regulations.
