Job summary

West Vancouver Schools is seeking a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst to join our multidisciplinary team. The role focuses on evidence-based strategies to enhance student participation, learning, and well-being across school settings.

The successful candidate will provide coaching to educators, develop function-based supports, and facilitate professional learning across the district while collaborating with families and professionals to promote equity and inclusion.

Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of applied behaviour analysis within inclusive educational settings.
  • A strong commitment to trauma-informed, relationship-centred, and neurodiversity-affirming practices.
  • Demonstrated understanding of autism and a broad range of neurodevelopmental differences and complex learning profiles.
  • Experience developing behaviour support plans that are practical, sustainable, and implemented successfully by school-based teams.
  • Experience supporting students who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), including collaboration with Speech-Language Pathologists and school teams to embed communication supports for the school environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams, including teachers, Learning Support Teachers, Education Assistants, administrators, Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, psychologists, families, and community partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to build the capacity of school teams through coaching, consultation, modelling, collaborative problem-solving, and the delivery of engaging professional learning.
  • Experience working collaboratively with families in a respectful, culturally responsive, and strengths-based manner.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across schools.
  • Current certification as a Safety-Care Trainer, or equivalent, is preferred. Candidates who do not currently hold trainer certification must be willing to obtain certification and provide district-wide training in crisis prevention, de-escalation, and post-incident response and consultation within school settings.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, continuous learning, and reflective practice.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with school-based staff, families, district personnel, and community partners to develop practical, evidence-informed strategies that strength student participation, learning, and well-being.
  • Coach educators in implementing contextually appropriate plans and develop function-based supports across settings.
  • Lead professional learning across the district through workshops, mentoring, and capacity-building for school teams.
