Job summary

Compass Early Learning and Care (CELC) Lindsay is seeking a School Age Educator on a contract basis with potential to become permanent. The role is 15 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a start date of September 14, 2026.

Responsibilities include planning play-based activities, maintaining supervision, documenting learning progress, ensuring children's health and safety, and fostering strong relationships with families, while adhering to CELC and regulatory policies.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years’ experience working with children and youth.
• Familiarity with the Child Care Early Years Act and licensing standards.
• Valid certifications, including a Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check, Standard First Aid, and CPR Level C, and updated immunization records.

• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age by the beginning of employment.

• Maintain active supervision with children while still being engaged in play.
• Document children’s learning progress through observation, reflection, and research questions.
• Create and maintain an environment that protects the health, safety, and well-being of children.
• Assist the children with diapering, dressing, and eating habits.
• Foster strong relationships with families and involve them in the learning process.
• Collaborate with coworkers, families, and community partners to create a supportive environment.
• Participate in team meetings, professional learning opportunities, and staff training opportunities.
• Assist in housekeeping duties within the program.
• Follow CELC, CCEYA, and Ministry of Education policies and procedures.
• Hours will be based on program needs and funding. Shift start and end times will fluctuate within the team and will fall within the program hours of 6 am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday.
• This program supports infant, toddler, and preschool-aged children.

Preferred:

• Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators OR is currently pursuing or is interested in pursuing their ECE diploma.
• OR has an alternative childcare designation that is eligible for Director's Approval (i.e., Child and Youth, Recreation and Leisure, and Ontario Certified Teachers - Primary and Junior) Post-Secondary education in a related field.
• Experience working in a play-based, emergent-curriculum childcare program.
