Job summary

SYSTRA Canada, part of the global SYSTRA group, seeks a Planning & Schedule Management Lead within the Integrated Program Delivery Team (IPDT). Reporting into the Planning & Schedule Management Lead, you will shape planning processes for a large transit program and ensure alignment with IPDT model best practices.

The role requires 10 years of planning and scheduling experience in rail and transit, a degree with commercial/contract management exposure, and a professional qualification is a plus.

  • 10 years of Planning and Schedule Management experience in Rail and Transit projects.
  • Degree or equivalent with professional experience in Commercial/Contract Management.
  • Holding or working towards professional qualification is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support the review of existing Planning & Schedule processes and update based on IPDT Model Best Practices.
  • Support development and deployment of program-wide Planning & Scheduling requirements for consistency.
  • Support the development and deployment of a Program Contingency Management Process.
  • Manage IPDT Planning & Schedule Procedures, systems and tools across the program.
  • Ensure a program-wide consistent approach to Planning & Scheduling.
  • Assist projects and supply chains to deliver efficiently, sharing best practices.
  • Standardize program/procedure delivery to align with Metrolinx requirements.
  • Support real-time reporting linked to the Program Control Centre for informed decisions.
  • Contribute to program risk management and stakeholder engagement.

Context

The GO Expansion program is the largest transit infrastructure program in Canada. The program will transform rail services in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) providing two-way all-day train service to the region, and improving passenger experience with quieter and faster electric locomotives. The GO

Expansion program includes Early Works, Off-corridor station and infrastructure upgrades as well as an On-Corridor program to deliver new tracks, platforms, facilities, grade separations and electrification.

MCS is partnering with partnering with Metrolinx to deliver the GO Expansion program. MCS’ mission is to transform the GO rail network into a rapid rail system through the delivery of the GO Expansion Program and to provide exemplary support to Metrolinx. As Metrolinx’s Program Delivery Partner, the team will achieve this by facilitating the creation of outstanding organizational capability in program management and, simultaneously bring our global and local expertise to successful delivery of the GO Expansion program.

Missions/Main Duties

Reporting into the Planning & Schedule Management Lead, the role forms part of the Integrated Program Delivery Team (IPDT).

Responsibilities

The role is responsible for delivering, and where possible exceeding the clients expectations across the following areas of responsibility within a large, multidisciplinary program delivery team:

  • Support the review to existing Planning & Schedule processes and procedures, and update based on IPDT Model Best Practices.
  • Support the development and implementation Program-wide project requirements that the projects must comply with for Planning & Scheduling to improve consistency and support the Program delivery approach including aligning and enhancing the current Project Procedures
  • Support the development and deployment a Program Contingency Management Process.
  • Manage Planning & Schedule Management IPDT Procedures, systems and toolsets for the Program Management of contracts across the project.
  • Support a Program-wide view of Planning & Schedule considerations, assure consistency of approach.
  • Support projects and their supply chains to deliver efficiently and effectively. Take a Program approach to removing consistent causes of cost and schedule overrun. Share best practice and lessons learned across the Program.
  • Manage consistency of delivery approach - Standardizing Program and project procedures ensuring integration and compliance with statutory and Metrolinx requirements.
  • Manage and provide for “Best for Program” decision making by creating the capability of consistent and real time reporting linked to the Program Control Centre to establish decision making capability, which is joined up, knowledge led and aligned to Program level outcomes and objectives.
  • Support Program level risk management: Identification and mitigation of risks/issues and optimization of opportunities across all aspects of the Program.
  • Support stakeholder engagement at a Program level as required by the Stakeholder Management Plan.

  • Degree or equivalent with professional work experience in the Commercial and Contract Management disciplines
