Job summary

SECURE is seeking a Scale Desk Administrator to support our metals recycling facility in Saskatoon, SK. You will serve as the first point of contact for day-to-day operations, overseeing scrap purchases from public customers and industrial accounts, weighing loads, and processing scale tickets.

You will collaborate with dispatchers, drivers, and the logistics team to ensure efficient yard operations, accurate pricing, and timely communication with customers.

Qualifications

  • Excellent customer service skills required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple priorities and prioritize tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite and data, including Microsoft Excel.
  • Administration experience is preferred.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to function in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Must be able to conduct physical tasks, including inspecting loads on trucks.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain knowledge of scrap purchasing and management software.
  • Create, manage and payout scale tickets.
  • Weigh trucks and customers in and out.
  • Visually inspect incoming loads for non-metallics and hazardous materials.
  • Use a radio to control unloading operations in the yard.
  • Create bills of lading for outgoing shipments.
  • Collaborate with dispatcher, drivers, equipment operators, logistics team, supervisors and management.
  • Handle customer inquiries regarding scrap metal pricing promptly and professionally.

Your Opportunity at SECURE

As our Scale Desk Administrator, you will be responsible for performing a broad range of functions in support of the efficient and effective operation of a metals recycling facility.

This role is based out of Saskatoon Saskatchewan.

The Team

You will be the first point of contact for the business’s day to day activities including the purchasing of scrap metal from public customers and industrial account holders.

Work Environment

The schedule is Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday shifts.

A Day in The Life
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge and skill in employing scrap purchasing and management software
  • Create, manage and payout scale tickets
  • Weigh trucks and customers in and out
  • Visibly inspect every incoming load for non-metallics and hazardous or prohibited material
  • Using a radio, control customer unloading operations in the yard
  • Create bills of lading for outgoing truck shipments
  • Interact in a collaborative and cooperative manner with: the dispatcher, truck drivers, equipment operators, the logistics team, supervisors and management.
  • Handle customer inquiries regarding scrap metal pricing in a prompt, courteous and professional manner
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
  • Excellent customer service skills are required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Proven ability to handle multiple priorities and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite and data, including Microsoft Excel
  • Administration experience is preferred
  • Must be self-motivated and able to function in a fast-paced exciting team environment
  • Must be able to conduct physical tasks, including climbing up on trucks to inspect loads
  • Must be willing and able to travel to other Saskatchewan locations to cover time off, sick days, training days, etc.
  • A valid driver’s licence and a clean driver’s abstract are required
  • Previous metal recycling experience would be an asset
  • Previous scale attendant experience would be an asset
