Job summary

SECURE is hiring a Short Haul Driver in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. You will transport metal materials between collection sites, recycling facilities, and client locations, ensuring safe, timely deliveries in the Metals Division.

This full-time, Monday–Friday role offers local duties with overtime as needed, vehicles provided, and a focus on safety, reliability, and customer service.

Qualifications

• Experience operating flatbeds, tankers, and heavy-duty trucks.
• Knowledge of Canadian geography and traffic rules.
• Strong communication with dispatchers and customers.
• Ability to plan routes and meet delivery schedules.
• Physically capable of loading/unloading and vehicle inspections.

Your Opportunity at SECURE

As our Short Haul Driver, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely transportation of metal materials between collection sites, recycling facilities, and client locations. This role is essential in maintaining the smooth flow of operations within the recycling division and ensuring high standards of service and customer satisfaction.

This role is based out of Prince Albert Saskatchewan within our Metals Division and preference will be given to local drivers.

The Team

At SECURE, our drivers are a vital part of the Metals Recycling operation, serving as the connection between our customers, suppliers, and processing facilities. Whether you're collecting material, delivering products, or supporting site operations, you'll be part of a team that values safety, reliability, and exceptional customer service.

Work Environment

This is a Monday to Friday, full time permament position. Saturday's and overtime as required.

A Day in The Life

• Adhere to all local, provincial, and federal traffic laws and regulations to ensure safe driving practices at all times
• Skillfully handle and maneuver different types of vehicles and equipment, ensuring their safe operation during loading, transit, and unloading activities
• Follow all safety protocols and guidelines established by SECURE Energy and customer sites to maintain a safe working environment and prevent accidents
• Accurately position and secure waste bins in designated areas, ensuring they are recorded and tracked correctly using the provided tracking system
• Conduct thorough inspections of all transported materials to verify they match the accompanying documentation and comply with safety and regulatory standards
• Be prepared to maintain a regular weekday schedule while also being available for additional hours as needed to meet operational demands
• Maintain clear and regular communication with the dispatch team to optimize routes, meet customer requirements, and enhance overall operational efficiency
• Support various operational tasks at the recycling facility as required, including helping with equipment maintenance, organizing materials, and ensuring the overall smooth running of facility processes

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

• Solid understanding of Canadian geography, highway systems, and rules.
• Experience operating various types of transportation equipment, such as flatbeds, tankers, and heavy-duty trucks. Lowbed, self-loader and equipment operation experience would be an asset.
• Strong communication skills for effective interaction with clients, dispatchers, and team members.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills to plan routes and meet delivery schedules.
• Physical fitness to handle loading and unloading tasks and to perform vehicle inspections.
• Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and GPS navigation systems.
• Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
• Ability to adapt to changing road conditions and weather situations while maintaining safety.
• Knowledge of waste management and recycling industry practices is a plus.
