Job summary

SECURE is hiring a General Labourer in Red Deer AB to perform metals sorting and day-to-day site duties in a safe, timely manner. The role is based on-site with standard hours 8am-5pm, Monday to Friday, with alternating Saturdays as required.

You will inspect materials, prepare scrap for shipment, operate basic hand tools, keep the yard clean and safe, and support operators and drivers in daily tasks, while adhering to SECURE safety policies.

Qualifications

• General labouring experience is preferred but not required.
• Experience working with metals is an asset, training provided if needed.
• Ability to follow safety procedures and complete safety documentation.

Responsibilities

• Sort and separate non-ferrous materials, cut to size, and package.
• Inspect materials for quality and safety standards.
• Operate hand tools and equipment to process scrap metal for shipment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment per SECURE policies.
• Support equipment operators and drivers with daily yard activities.
• Follow all safety procedures in a fast-paced industrial setting.
• Collaborate with teammates to keep materials moving and satisfy customers.
• Familiarity with small equipment like forklifts and skid steers is a plus.

Work Environment

This is a full time role working Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm and alternating Saturdays as required.

A Day in The Life

• Sorting and separating a variety of non-ferrous materials, cutting material to size and packaging.
• Inspecting materials to ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
• Operating hand tools and equipment to process and prepare scrap metal for shipment.
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment, following all SECURE safety policies and procedures.
• Supporting equipment operators and drivers with daily yard activities.
• Following all safety procedures while working in a fast-paced industrial environment.
• Working closely with your teammates to keep materials moving and customers satisfied.
• Familiarity with operating and servicing small equipment such as forklifts, skid steer, cut off saws, stationary baler would be an asset.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

• General labouring and or farm experience an asset but not required
• Experience working with metals would be an asset but we are willing to train
• Basic comprehension and ability to follow SECURE’s Workplace Health and Safety requirements relevant to the assigned work site, including but not limited to SECURE’s safety and hazard assessment process”
• Ability to complete safety documentation in an accurate and timely manner
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, shoveling, moving containers and other heavy materials
• Strong work ethic and willingness to persevere through difficult weather conditions
• Fit-for-Work each day
