Job summary

SECURE, a Western Canada waste management leader, is seeking a General Labourer to join our Edmonton team. You will support automated systems, conveyors, and processing equipment while upholding safety and quality in a dynamic plant environment.

You'll work Sunday-Thursday, 8 PM–5 AM with overtime as needed, and contribute to preventative maintenance, repairs, and continuous improvements across our operations in Alberta. Industrial experience and reliable teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years working in an industrial setting.
• Must be able to work inside and outside year-round in all weather conditions.
• Ability to work the afternoon shift, from 9:00 pm to 6:00 am, when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Check / Track / repair conveyor belts
• Check motor / Hydraulic temperatures and record
• Replace defective parts on machinery/equipment or adjust clearances and alignment
• Attach moving parts and subassemblies using hand/power tools
• Move machinery and equipment using hoists, crane, dollies and rollers
• Conduct preventative maintenance and repairs and lubricate machines
• Provide technical support and suggest improvements

Your Opportunity at SECURE

As our General Labourer you will be responsible for…

• General Labour duties
• Understanding of automated systems, HMI, PLC's
• Knowledge of conveyors, metal sorting equipment, air compressors, air dryers, etc.
• Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills
• Organizational and time management abilities, confident, resourceful and highly motivated
• Results-oriented team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively to plan jobs
• Ability to actively listen and use creativity to solve problems
• Ability to recognize the environmental factors and risks that enable and support safety in the workplace
• Ability to maintain professionalism always and work with limited supervision
• Ability to multi-task and meet objectives/deliverables

This role is based out of Edmonton, Alberta

The Team

You will join a supportive and collaborative team that values communication, accuracy, and a willingness to help one another succeed. The team works closely together to manage priorities, solve challenges proactively, and maintain a positive environment focused on shared success and operational efficiency.

Work Environment

Reporting to the ASR/Shredder Plant Manager.

This is a full time Sunday - Thursday 8 Pm to 5 AM shift. Overtime and Saturdays as needed.

A Day in The Life

• Check / Track / repair conveyor belts
• Check motor / Hydraulic temperature’s and record
• Replace defective parts on machinery/equipment or adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts
• Attach moving parts and subassemblies to basic assembly using hand tools/power tools
• Move machinery and equipment using hoists, overhead crane, dollies, rollers etc.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and repair and lubricate machines and equipment
• Provide technical support, adjust settings, confirm proper operation and make recommendations for continuous improvements
• Check for and unplug jams
• Other duties as assigned
