Job summary

Quest Global seeks a skilled SCADA/HMI engineer to design and implement control architectures for STATCOM projects. You will craft robust HMIs for real-time monitoring, specify and integrate communication protocols, and oversee installation, testing, and commissioning.

Fluency in English and travel willingness are required to collaborate across international teams. You will work with Zenon, Aveva Plant SCADA, and other tools to ensure system reliability, security, and regulatory compliance while

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology.
• Experience in system design from energy, industrial or utility projects.
• Familiar with design engineering tools such as Zenon software platform, Aveva Plant SCADA, Eaton SMP gateway.
• Familiar with network traffic debugging tools such as Wireshark.
• F familiar with testing/simulator tools such as IEDScout, TMW Test Harness.
• Fluent written and oral skills in English; other languages are benefit
• Ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• System design and architecture for SCADA systems on STATCOM projects.

Key Responsibilities

Key Individual Accountabilities:

• System Design and Architecture: Create and refine the architecture for SCADA systems tailored to STATCOM projects. Additionally, develop user-friendly HMIs for real-time monitoring and control of STATCOM systems and select and design appropriate communication protocols (e.g., MODBUS, DNP3, IEC 61850) for data exchange. Required experience in IEC 103 protocol and driver configuration
• Implementation and Integration: Perform the installation and commissioning of SCADA/HMI systems in STATCOM projects and ensure seamless integration of SCADA systems with existing infrastructure and other control systems. Conduct rigorous testing (functional and performance testing) to validate system reliability and performance.
• HMI Design: Create HMI pages based on customer specifications and requirements.
• Perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and interoperability testing that includes FAT preparation, report creation and execution
• Diagnose and resolve issues related to SCADA, HMI, and communication systems promptly.
• Manage system updates, patches, and upgrades to enhance functionality and security.
• Identify and implement improvements to enhance the efficiency and reliability of SCADA/HMI systems.
• Ensure that all systems comply with relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., NERC CIP, IEC 62351).
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to innovate and enhance system capabilities.
• Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.

Qualifications/Requirements

Work Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology
• Experience in system design from energy, industrial or utility projects
• Familiar with design engineering tools e.g. Zenon software platform, Aveva Plant SCADA, Eaton SMP gateway etc.
• Familiar with network traffic debugging tools. e.g: Wireshark
• Familiar with testing/simulator tools. e.g. IEDScout, TMW Test Harness
• Experience in electrical design of substation secondary systems is a benefit
• Knowing electro-technical standards is a benefit
• Fluent written and oral skills in English; other languages are benefit
