Job summary

DL Seeds Inc. seeks a motivated leader to head field research operations in Saskatchewan, coordinating trials from planting to harvest.

You will manage trial sites, data collection, and frontline staff to deliver high-quality canola and pulse research with safety and efficiency. You will collaborate with plant breeders, pathology, agronomy and lab teams, oversee equipment and facilities, and ensure timely reporting.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Agronomy, Plant Science, or related field.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• 2+ years of experience in agronomy and/or field research.
• Ability to operate small plot research equipment including tractors, seeders, sprayers, and combines.
• Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and tight deadlines.
• Excellent attention to detail, interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Teams).
• Must be a resident of Canada with a valid Class 5 driver’s license; Endorsement G is a plus; willingness to obtain post-hire.

• Program Management: Plan, coordinate and organize all aspects of DL Seeds canola and pulse research trial sites in Saskatchewan.
• Trial Execution: Plan trial layouts, prepare seed, plant small-plot research trials, and manage crop protection/site maintenance.
• Data Collection: Scout plots regularly, record phenotypic data, measure disease/pest levels, and harvest plots using specialized small-plot equipment.
• Collaboration: Work alongside our plant breeders, pathologist, agronomy and lab team to bring industry leading products to our customers.
• Facility & Equipment Care: Oversee the upkeep and maintenance of the buildings, grounds, and research equipment.
• Leadership: Hire, train, and supervise seasonal field staff maintaining safe work procedures and standard operating protocols across all operations.

Requirements:

• Degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Agronomy, Plant Science, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• 2 or more years of experience in agronomy and/or field research is considered an asset.
• Ability to operate small plot research equipment including tractors, seeders, sprayers, and combines is considered an asset.
• Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks, manage seasonal priorities, and work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent attention to detail, interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in both an individual and team setting.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Teams)
• Must be a resident of Canada with a valid Class 5 driver’s license (Endorsement G is considered an asset; willingness to obtain an Endorsement G post-hire is required; no public transportation to research station locations).
• Willingness to work overtime and extended hours in the field during peak planting and harvest seasons.
