Responsibilities

• Greenhouse planting and plant care, including staking and tidying leaves.
• Collect leaf tissue in greenhouse and possibly field.
• Harvesting in greenhouse and field; seed extraction and grain cleaning.
• Labelling, weighing, and organization of seed packages; seed packaging.

Successful candidate should be a fast learner with a high aptitude for precision and accuracy. These positions will run 4-8 months in duration.

Position Overview

• Greenhouse planting
• Plant care (staking, tying back, tidying up dropped leaves)
• Collecting leaf tissue in Greenhouse and possibly in Field
• Emasculated and CMS crossing
• Harvesting Greenhouse and possibly in Field
• Threshing (extracting seeds from pods)
• Grain Cleaning
• Labelling, weighing and organization of seed packages
• Seed package filling
• Field preparation, seeding, plot maintenance (possibly)
• Assisting with note collection (possibly)
• Applying seed treatment (possibly)
• Limited driving of a company vehicle (possibly)

Required Qualifications

• Must have a reliable means to work (no public transit)
• Willing and able to work in temperatures 30-35 degrees
• A fast learner, with a high aptitude for precision and accuracy
• Must be highly motivated and well suited for work in both team-orientated and independent situations
• Display a competency to perform accurate work in a repetitive motion environment
