Our client in the public sector is seeking SAP Payroll Consultant to support their SAP implementation.

Location : Mainly remote, some hybrid - Kitchener / Waterloo area

Responsibilities

• Configure and support SAP Payroll for Canada, including schemas, rules, wage types, and PCRs.
• Analyze, document, and validate payroll requirements related to public sector employee groups (unionized, non-union, management).
• Ensure compliance with federal / provincial labor laws, tax regulations, pension plan rules, and public sector-specific benefits.
• Implement and test retroactive payroll runs, off-cycle processing, and year-end tax reporting (T4, RL-1, etc.).
• Support integration with Time Management, Benefits, SAP FI / CO, and external systems (e.g., WorkSafe, pension providers).
• Troubleshoot payroll processing issues and support month-end / year-end activities.
• Liaise with HR, Finance, and internal audit teams to ensure data integrity and regulatory compliance.
• Support user acceptance testing (UAT), training delivery, and go-live readiness activities.
• Prepare payroll documentation, including test scripts, configuration documents, and audit artifacts.

Requirements

• 5+ years of SAP Payroll configuration experience, specifically SAP Payroll for Canada .
• Experience working in the public sector , with knowledge of union agreements, collective bargaining impacts, and public service payroll rules.
• Strong understanding of Canadian statutory and legislative requirements (e.g., CRA, Revenu Québec, WSIB, EI, CPP, QPP).
• Demonstrated experience with SAP HCM (PA / OM, PY, TM), ideally in ECC 6.0 or S / 4HANA environments.
• Experience integrating payroll with finance (GL posting, cost center allocation) and external providers.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with HR and Finance stakeholders.
