Job summary

J&L Beef in Cloverdale, Nova Scotia, is seeking a part-time Sanitation Worker to maintain a clean, safe production area in line with HACCP and CFIA standards.

Shifts run at night, 8:30 PM – 5:00 AM, Monday to Friday, with potential overtime. You will lift/move products, wash machines with high-pressure hoses, and perform general cleaning in a wet environment. Training will be provided; must be 18+, legally eligible to work in Canada, and able to work around raw meat.

Qualifications

• Be able to work with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada and be minimum 18 years of age.
• Comfortable working around raw meat products.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the production facility is cleaned and sanitized per HACCP & CFIA regulations.
• Move and wash equipment and areas with high pressure water hoses; perform clean-up tasks.
• Work in humid, wet environments handling raw meat in a fast-paced setting. Training provided.

Job description

J&L Beef is currently seeking a Sanitation Worker for our Cloverdale facility, on a part time basis.

Responsibilities

• You would be responsible for ensuring the production facility is cleaned and sanitized in a timely fashion in accordance with HACCP & CFIA regulations.
• You could expect to be lifting and moving products from area to area, using high pressure hot water hoses to wash machines; clean-up tasks such as garbage removal and other activities related to food processing.
• You will need to be comfortable handling raw meat such as chicken, beef, and turkey, comfortable working in a humid, wet environment, and working in a fast-paced environment. Training will be provided.

Requirements

• Be able to work with minimal supervision and in a team environment
• You must be legally eligible to work in Canada and be minimum 18 years of age
• You need to be comfortable working around raw meat products
• Comfortable working in a wet environment with warm/cool temperatures.
• Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English
• Able to handle extended periods of static tasks with alertness
• Positive attitude and safety focused
• Willingness to develop new skills
• Previous cleaning experience including GMP’s, and WHIMS are an asset
• Attention to detail and ability to find defects in product streams
• Ability to operate mobile equipment such as power jack, forklift, scissor lift, and any other mobile equipment would be considered an asset

$19.91 - $19.91 an hour
