Job summary

Prairie Flour Mills Ltd. in Elie, Manitoba, is seeking a Sanitation Operator to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary facility in support of GMPs and food safety programs. You will help ensure high housekeeping standards and keep the plant organized and operating safely.

The role requires working day/evening shifts, some weekends, and potential overtime. Exposure to warm, dusty environments is expected, and accurate sanitation records will be kept as part of routine operations.

Qualifications

  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and understand English.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Must be able to work day, evening, weekend, and occasional overtime shifts as required.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Must be physically capable of standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to climb up to four flights of stairs.
  • Must be physically capable of lifting to 25 kg.
  • Must be comfortable working in a warm, dusty manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain environmental sanitation and housekeeping throughout the processing facility, including walls, floors, stairways, platforms, and other designated areas.
  • Properly use, maintain, and store sanitation equipment, including brooms, industrial vacuums, shovels, brushes, and other cleaning tools.
  • Clean the exterior surfaces of processing equipment according to established sanitation procedures.
  • Assist with major facility and equipment cleaning activities during scheduled shutdowns or as required.
  • Remove waste materials from the facility and clean waste containers.
  • Maintain cleanliness of employee facilities, including lunchrooms, washrooms, locker rooms, and other common areas, and replenish supplies as required.
  • Safely prepare and use approved cleaning chemicals according to supplier labels and company procedures.
  • Maintain inventory of sanitation supplies and equipment and notify the supervisor when replenishment is required.
  • Identify and report sanitation, housekeeping, food safety, or GMP concerns that could affect product quality or plant operations.
  • Complete sanitation work orders and maintain accurate sanitation records.
  • Follow all GMPs, HACCP, food safety programs, sanitation procedures, SOPs, and workplace safety policies.
  • Wear required PPE and follow all safe work procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Position Summary

Prairie Flour Mills Ltd. is a Manitoba-based flour milling company supplying premium wheat flour products to bakeries, food manufacturers, food service distributors, and retail customers throughout North America.


We are currently seeking a reliable, hardworking, and detail-oriented Sanitation Operator to join our team. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary work environment throughout the facility while supporting food safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and efficient plant operations. Successful candidates will take pride in maintaining high housekeeping standards and ensuring the facility is clean, organized, and operating safely.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Previous experience in sanitation, food manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial production environments is considered an asset.

  • WHMIS certification is considered an asset.

  • Experience using industrial cleaning equipment is an asset.


Schedule


  • Full-time, Permanent

  • Day, evening, weekend, and occasional overtime shifts as required
