Job summary

ESS Compass in Ontario seeks a Sandwich Maker to prepare and present meals in a fast-paced environment, ensuring quality and customer service. You will perform prep work, handle food safely, stock stations, and assist with serving customers.

The role requires FoodSafe Level 1, strong time management, the ability to work independently or in a team, and solid English communication. Local applicants preferred; benefits after 3 months.

Qualifications

• FoodSafe Level 1 Certification or provincial equivalent.
• Strong time management and organizational skills to manage heavy workload.
• Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
• Good command of English, verbal and written, and ability to follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, wash, cut and season ingredients for sandwiches.
• Transport pans and utensils safely to work areas.
• Store food with proper wrapping, dating and rotation.
• Follow recipes and production standards for quality and portions.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout the shift.
• Serve customers in a friendly and efficient manner.

Description

The Sandwich Maker prepares, presents and serves meals, ensuring the quality of the food and overall presentation and customer service in a fast‑paced food service environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform prep work such as washing, peeling, cutting and seeding fruits and vegetables.
• Carry pans, kettles and trays of food to and from work stations, stove and refrigerator in accordance with safety standards.
• Store food in designated areas following wrapping, dating, food safety and rotation procedures.
• Review and complete required sandwich recipes to standards.
• Perform general cleaning duties; remove trash and garbage to designated areas.
• Distribute supplies, utensils and portable equipment.
• Utilize approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control. Notify cooks if food temperatures are not within acceptable limits.
• Serve customers in a friendly, efficient manner following outlined steps of service.
• Assure compliance with all sanitation and safety requirements.

Qualifications:

• FoodSafe Level 1 Certification or provincial equivalent.
• Strong time management and organizational skills to be able to manage heavy workload.
• Ability to work both independently and in team setting as required.
• Good command of English language, both verbal and written and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Previous food service experience in healthcare, hotel, restaurant or fast food is considered an asset.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.

Position Requirements:

• Shift: 10hr/Day
• Rotation: 20 Days on/10 Days off
