POSITION SUMMARY

The Sandwich Artist is responsible for delivering an exceptional guest experience by preparing high-quality food, providing friendly and efficient service, and maintaining Subway brand standards. This role includes food preparation, cash handling, cleaning, and adherence to all food safety and sanitation requirements.

We are currently hiring and looking to fill this position immediately. No LMIA positions are available. Prior restaurant experience is an asset.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Greet guests in a cheerful, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Prepare customer orders accurately and efficiently according to Subway standards and procedures.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of menu items, ingredients, and promotions, and clearly explain options to guests.
  • Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system to process orders, accept payment, and provide correct change.
  • Perform Cash-In procedures, accounting for all forms of payment, bread, and assigned inventory during the shift.
  • Ensure sandwich unit and prep areas are fully stocked and maintained throughout the shift.
  • Follow all food handling, food safety, and sanitation standards in accordance with Alberta Health Services (AHS) guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the restaurant, including food prep areas, dining area, and restrooms.
  • Follow the Wash, Rinse, and Sanitize method of cleaning.
  • Adhere to all Subway quality standards, formulas, and procedures as outlined in the Subway Operations Manual.
  • Maintain professional appearance and grooming standards at all times.
  • Successfully complete required University of Subway training courses.
PREREQUISITES & ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Education: High School Diploma
  • Experience: Prior restaurant experience is an asset.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Alberta Food Safety certification (Food Safety Basics or equivalent) is an asset; training may be provided if required
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and statutory holidays
  • Strong customer service skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude
  • Ability to communicate in English; both written and spoken
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions in English
  • Ability to work in all areas of the restaurant as required
  • Ability to operate a computerized POS system/cash register
  • Position requires standing, walking, bending, and reaching for the duration of the shift
  • Ability to lift up to 10 lbs frequently and up to 30 lbs occasionally
