Job summary

Mérieux NutriSciences - North America in Burnaby, BC seeks a Sample Reception Chemistry position. You will log in samples for analysis, ensure sample integrity, and prepare shipments for couriers. This role supports quality processes and requires basic lab data handling within LIMS.

Qualifications

  • Basic computer operation to enter sample information into the LIMS.
  • Basic knowledge of microbiology and chemistry is helpful for assigning sample/test codes.
  • Broad knowledge of PC software and data entry to input data into the LIMS and generate reports.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and log in samples for analysis; assign IDs and enter data into LIMS.
  • Store samples securely and maintain integrity until analysis.
  • Prepare packages for shipping and maintain related documentation.
  • Prepare samples for transfer to other facilities with proper documentation.
  • Support quality and continuous improvement processes.
  • Identify deviations from the quality system and document observations.

YOUR DAY TO DAY LIFE
Position Summary

We are looking for a Sample Reception Chemistry in 4606 Canada Way, Burnaby, B.C. V5G 1K5 CAN. Your mission will be to:

  • Receive and log in sample in preparation for analysis. Review sample and any attached documentation to assign an identification number and enter information into Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Prepare documentation as necessary.
  • Store sample in appropriate manner until analysis is completed and appropriately dispose of extra sample. Ensure sample integrity is maintained.
  • Prepare packages for pick up by shipping vendors. Follow appropriate procedures to send packages and maintain all related documentation.
  • Prepare sample to be shipped to other testing facilities when necessary. Complete appropriate documentation and file accordingly.
  • Support corporate quality and continuous improvement process.
  • This position has the responsibilities and authority to identify departures from the quality system or test procedures and document such observations in accordance with the prescribed complaint system.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
  • At any time, the incumbent must behave and operate in an ethical and Code of Conduct compliant manner.
YOUR PROFILE
Qualifications Required
  • This position requires a basic knowledge of computer operation skills to manipulate the keyboard while entering incoming sample information into the LIMS.
  • A basic knowledge of microbiology and chemistry is helpful to effectively assign proper sample and test codes.
  • A broad knowledge of personal computer software and data entering skills is necessary to input data into the LIMS and generate special reports.

  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.
  • Work is performed in a chemical laboratory with exposure to hazardous substances.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and usage of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
  • The noise level is generally moderate.
  • May involve handling flammable, reactive, and toxic chemicals.
Compensation

Compensation: $23.52 hourly CAD
