Job summary

Primus Workforce Ltd. seeks a Process Technician to join our Saskatchewan operations.

The role focuses on monitoring and operating the test facilities process system and controls, collecting brine samples, and maintaining records in compliance with MER, WSA, and MOE requirements. Responsibilities include operating mining process equipment, recording conditions, offloading salt to storage, and assisting with maintenance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma (Grade 12) required.
  • Experience with brine systems, solution mining, or process testing is an asset.
  • Experience in industrial/construction sites with process or trades is an asset.
  • Experience with HMI or production software is an asset.
  • Trades training in millwrighting, pipefitting, instrumentation or electrical is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Operate solution mining systems and related equipment.
  • Monitor and record process conditions (flow, temperature, pressure, volumes).
  • Collect, analyze, and log brine sample results following protocols.
  • Assist offloading salt to storage silo and follow procedures.
  • Identify and report operational issues to the Supervisor promptly.
  • Support isolation and lockout of equipment; assist with minor repairs.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards.
  • Deliver or pick up samples as required using company vehicle.
  • Work with site team and perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Location: Onsite– 55 KM SE from Regina, along highway #33.

Position Type: Full-Time, Shift Work, Day and Night shift (12-hour rotating shifts)

Position Title: Process Technician

This role includes monitoring and operating the test facilities process system and controls. The Technician will also be responsible for the collection and analysis of brine samples, as well as assisting with general equipment maintenance and keeping precise operational records in compliance with the regulations set forth by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Energy and Resources (MER), the Water Security Agency (WSA), and the Ministry of Environment (MOE).

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate solution mining systems as directed in a specific range of process parameters. This system consists of pumps, valves, filtration units, brine mixing equipment, and a conveyor.
  • Independently monitor and record process conditions such as flow rates, temperatures, pressures, and volumes.
  • Collect, analyze, and log results of brine samples. Follow approved sampling and analysing protocols.
  • Assist and oversee the offloading of salt from a transport trailer to a storage silo, ensuring that the appropriate procedures are followed.
  • Identify and report operational issues, leaks, spills, or abnormal readings or conditions. Ensure they are clearly and promptly communicated to the Supervisor.
  • Support the isolation and lockout of process equipment for maintenance and safely assist with minor equipment repairs and maintenance.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards through regular area cleanup.
  • Drive to deliver samples or pick up supplies with company vehicle as required.
  • Work closely and cooperatively with site team members.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Experience
  • High school diploma (Grade 12) required.
  • Previous experience with brine systems, solution mining, or process testing considered an asset.
  • Experience working in an industrial or construction site setting with process and/or trades experience an asset.
  • Experience with HMI or production software an asset.
  • Trades training an asset - specifically in millwrighting, pipefitting, instrumentation, electrical.
Required Certifications
  • Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Safety Construction Orientation Training (SCOT)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to recognize process upsets and communicate observations clearly and promptly to the Supervisor.
  • Ability/desire to learn; self-motivated, enthusiastic.
  • Proficient with monitoring and recording process data (manual and digital).
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Computer knowledge an asset.
  • Solid oral and written communication skills.
  • Solid problem solving and trouble shooting skills.
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Physically capable of lifting to 25 kg and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the job without posing a direct threat to the safety of his or her own self, or the safety of others.Able to climb stairs or ladders and work at heights with fall arrest.
  • Able to independently commute to a rural worksite.
Working Conditions
  • Rotating shift work, including nights and weekends. 12hr shifts
  • Industrial site environment with potential exposure to brine, noise, and temperature extremes.
  • Must always wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Occasional overtime or call-in work may be required during the test phases or equipment issues.
  • Strict adherence to the site’s policy of no drugs, no alcohol.
