Reporting into the General Manager at our Ottawa location, the Sales Manager is responsible for developing new and existing business opportunities in the Ottawa/Gatineau area for AGF Rebar inc.. The incumbent will also be responsible for managing sales of the company’s products and services, ensuring consistent, profitable growth in sales revenues through positive planning and deployment. This position is also responsible for identifying objectives and setting sales targets, strategies and action plans to improve short and long term sales and earnings.

Role and responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute the sales strategy in alignment within the overall objectives of the business;
  • Provide leadership and direction to the sales and estimating teams, ensuring clear communication of goals and expectations of the sales targets;
  • Actively manage the sales process: qualifying leads, solution pitch, negotiation, closing and handover to operations team;
  • Negotiate terms of contracts with decision makers;
  • Monitor tender invitations, daily commercial news and industry websites for tender opportunities;
  • Review tender forms and specifications prior to bidding;
  • Prepare, gather and review documents for bidding;
  • Attend pre and post tender meetings;
  • Build and manage a sales pipeline to ensure targets are met;
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key industry partners, other associations and trade partners;
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, conduct market analysis of competitors and trends in order to be able to anticipate growth potential and competition;
  • Represent AGF in industry trade events and participate in networking activities.
  • Work collaboratively with the Detailing and Project Management teams to ensure that projects are progressing and assist with client relations as required;
  • Create a trusting and supportive work environment that reflects AGF’s values for our employees.

What we are looking for:

  • 3 to 5 years experience in leading a sales team in the construction industry;
  • University degree in Civil Engineering, Marketing or Business studies;
  • 7 to 10 years of related proven experience in the construction industry or the equivalent combination of formal education and experience;
  • Bilingual (French and English is a strong asset);
  • Experience in developing marketing and sales strategies is a must;
  • Capacity to establish priorities, develop a plan and follow through to completion.
