Job summary

IKEA Richmond is looking for a Sales Co-worker who loves helping customers find the right home solutions. You’ll engage shoppers, ask the right questions, and guide them through our range with enthusiasm and knowledge.

In a fast-paced, high-volume setting, you’ll keep the area tidy, restock, and participate in promotions while upholding IKEA’s sustainability and service standards. Starting rate is CAD 19.28 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Attention to detail and ability to juggle priorities in a busy environment.
  • Strong customer service to assess needs and guide buying decisions.
  • People-oriented with ease in initiating conversations.
  • Passion for IKEA products and commitment to sustainability.
  • About 6 months of experience in high-volume sales or customer service.
  • Comfort with physical tasks, ladders, and heights.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Approach customers who need help and ask questions to identify needs.
  • Guide customers to the best solutions for their homes across IKEA channels.
  • Keep area clean, tidy, stocked, and price-tagged with merchandising standards.
  • Share knowledge of features/benefits with customers and colleagues.
  • Understand store goals and contribute to department success.
  • Promote available services to improve customer shopping experience.
  • Support or lead planned commercial activities across the store.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO HAVE
  • You have amazing attention for details and can effortlessly juggle multiple competing priorities while keeping a smile on your face.
  • Your customer service skills are top notch – you can assess a customer’s needs quickly and sell them a solution, providing all sorts of support to aid them in their buying decision.
  • You are a total people-person and can strike up a conversation easily
  • You have an obvious passion for IKEA products and design, as well as our Sustainability commitment.
  • You have about 6-month work experience in a high-volume sales or customer service environment.
  • You enjoy working in a physically demanding, fast-paced, work environment and are comfortable with working on ladders and with heights.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize your own work to make efficient use of the time available.

  • You actively approach customers who you see require additional help. You identify their needs by asking the right questions and advise them on the best solutions for their homes in order to exceed their expectations.
  • You understand how to use the different IKEA sales and communication channels and know-how for the different customers you meet.
  • You keep your area of responsibility clean, tidy, priced and fully stocked, and ensure that the IKEA basic merchandising standards are in place at all times to give customers a positive shopping experience.
  • You convey passion about IKEA products and actively learn about their features and benefits, and you share this knowledge with customers and colleagues.
  • You understand the store and department action plans. You take responsibility for your department goals and know how you contribute.
  • You actively offer all the services available in the IKEA store to help customers make informed choices, which results in a better shopping experience for them.
  • You lead and/or support the implementation of planned commercial activities involving your department throughout the store.
  • You ensure you maximize sales whilst maintaining profitability by knowing and actively steering towards the top selling and prioritized products (e.g. overstock/övertag).
