Job description

Connacher Oil and Gas Limited ("Connacher") has an opportunity for a Senior SAGD Operator, reporting to the Manager, Operations. This position is based at the Connacher Algar SAGD Facility located 80km South of Fort McMurray. This is a fly-in/fly-out rotation with seven days on and seven days off. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and team-oriented, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and strong operator experience with previous SAGD experience and control room operations, process monitoring and plant optimization.

Company

Connacher is a Calgary-based in-situ oilsands producer. Connacher’s principal asset is a 100 percent interest in Connacher’s Great Divide oil sands leases near Fort McMurray, Alberta. Connacher operates two SAGD facilities and is currently executing a development plan to increase and maintain production of approximately 23,000 bbls/day.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor SAGD processes from the control room (steam generation, water treatment, production systems)
• Perform field inspections, equipment checks, and log process data
• Lead or support plant start-ups, shutdowns, and troubleshooting activities
• Execute safe work practices (LOTO, permitting, hazard assessments)
• Maintain accurate shift logs and provide clear handovers
• Collaborate closely with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams

Education and Experience

• 2nd Class Power Engineering Certificate (preferred qualification)
• 10+ years of operating experience in SAGD, conventional oil & gas, or petrochemical facilities (required)
• Strong understanding of plant operations, safety systems, and process control (DCS)
• Must hold a valid Class‑5 driver’s license and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
