Peter Lucas Project Management - Safety Specialist

Peter Lucas Project Management is seeking a Safety Specialist to join our dynamic team. We offer a diverse range of projects, professional challenges, and learning opportunities to support your growth.

Work Schedule: Two weeks on, two weeks off, 11-hour days.

The Safety Specialist is responsible for ensuring all construction activities comply with site-specific Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) standards. Key duties include monitoring operations, identifying hazards, and implementing safe work practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Construction Management Team (CMT) and contractors
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental procedures
  • Conduct workplace inspections and behavioral safety observations
  • Review Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRAs) and contact cards
  • Provide or oversee SHEQ training and assess contractor qualifications
  • Participate in hazard assessments, safety meetings, toolbox talks, and project reviews
  • Perform site inspections regularly
  • Address health and safety issues on-site
  • Lead investigations of incidents and near-misses
  • Report safety events promptly
  • Monitor and verify corrective actions from incident investigations

Minimum Requirements:
  • 10 years of experience in a similar role
  • CSO designation required
  • First Aid certification is an asset
  • Formal investigation training and experience leading investigations
  • Eligibility to work in Canada (e.g., permanent resident, valid work permit)
