Job summary

The Mosaic Company is seeking a Safety Specialist to reinforce a safe and healthy workplace at Esterhazy K1, Saskatchewan. You will assist management, supervisors, and employees in implementing regulatory safety requirements and Mosaic's safety rules.

Responsibilities include incident investigations, development of Job Hazard Analyses, and delivering safety training to staff and contractors. Strong communication and independent work skills are essential to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant safety experience with high school diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate incidents and document findings.
  • Review and develop Job Hazard Analyses and Safe Work Instructions.
  • Provide safety training, orientations, and annual refreshers to employees and contractors.
  • Audit site safety and address noncompliance, informing management with solutions.

About The Role

Assist Management, Supervisors, and Employees in establishing a safe and healthy workplace by ensuring Company regulatory safety requirements are implemented and followed.

What will you do?
  • Conduct, document, and follow-up on incident investigations. Perform air monitoring, hazard, ergonomic, and hygiene assessments.
  • Review and develop site documents such as Job Hazard Analyses, site level Safety Procedures and Safe Work Instructions.
  • Provide employee and contractor safety training, orientations, and annual refreshers.
  • Routinely audit, perform field assessments, and serve as a subject matter expert for questions regarding workplace conditions and compliance with regulatory safety requirements and Mosaic's safety rules. Ensure unsafe acts, conditions or noncompliance issues are addressed. Inform Management and Supervision or problem areas and present solutions and actions for improvement
  • Prepare requisitions and maintain safety equipment and supplies.
What You’ll Need
  • High School/GED with 5 years of relevant experience required,
  • Bachelor's degree with major in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Sciences, Medical, Industrial Hygiene Psychology, or Human Resources preferred with 1+ years of relevant experience
  • Proficient Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), basic understanding of databases required
  • Working knowledge of safety and occupational health regulations required
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with employees at all levels across the facility.
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Strong Attention to detail required
