Job summary

The Mosaic Company is seeking a driven Engineer I for its New Graduate Program located at Mosaic Potash Colonsay in Saskatchewan. The role offers hands-on engineering support to plant operations and front-end development of capital projects.

You will join cross-site teams, apply problem-solving skills, and contribute to safety, reliability, and efficiency improvements across Mosaic mines and facilities in Canada.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering and solid communication skills.
  • Experience with data historians and project coordination is a plus.
  • Ability to influence others and lead teams across projects.
  • Must demonstrate ability to manage costs and schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Provide plant process engineering support for operations and optimization.
  • Coordinate across plant sites for design and procurement.
  • Develop preliminary design concepts and economic risk assessments.
  • Provide commissioning and start-up support for projects.
  • Support multi-site improvement initiatives and safety audits.
  • Ensure safety and environmental standards are followed and reported.

Where Will You Work
Mosaic Potash Esterhazy

is an underground potash mine located 90 kilometers south of Yorkton. Its split between three mine sites - K1, K2 and K3 which will be the largest, and one of the world’s most competitive underground potash mines in the world.

Mosaic Potash Colonsay

is a conventional shaft mine that utilizes two-rotor mining machines and room and pillar mining techniques. This underground potash mine is located 70 kilometers southeast of Saskatoon.

Mosaic Potash Belle Plaine

is a solution mine and refinery located 50 kilometers west of Regina on the Trans-Canada Highway. It is the world’s largest solution mine that is full of talented people and is home to over 500 dedicated employees.

Are You Our Next Engineer?

The Engineer I provides technical support primarily to plant operations groups and responsible for front-end engineering development of capital projects. Serves as an active contributor to Mosaic cross-site and/or cross-functional assignments and initiatives. Frequently assigned to high-profile projects, support assignments, and initiatives.

What Will You Do?
  • Provide plant process engineering support to the operations group, including plant optimization, troubleshooting, efficiency improvement, problem solving, and problem prevention.
  • Leverage ideas and assistance including resources across plant sites.
  • Plan and identify business objectives by evaluating viable options, preliminary design development, and preliminary economic and risk mitigation evaluation.
  • Provide commission and start-up support for assigned projects.
  • Support current business initiatives, such as specific problem-solving projects or improvement activities involving multiple sites.
  • Ensure site safety and environmental standards are being followed through safety audits, risk assessments, and housekeeping tours.
  • Report any issues that can impact the environment or the safety of the employees.
Required Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Mining, Industrial, Civil)
  • Proficiency in MS Office products, PI/OSISoft products or similar data historian, added benefit if the experience is with AutoCAD, Microsoft Project/Primavera (or similar software) experience.
  • Excellent written and communication skills and ability to interface with all levels of management.
  • Must demonstrate ability to influence others; requires strong leadership qualities, and team building.
  • Manage and control project costs and schedule by ensuring that effective project controls are in place and functioning properly.
  • Providing coordination between design, procurement, and/or construction for integration of technical content and schedule activities
Engineer I
  • 0-2 years of related experience in engineering, industrial project experience, or engineering project management
Bonus Points If You Have The Following
  • SAP/Maximo application experience
  • Industrial chemical plant or mining facility project management experience
  • PE, PMI certification
