Job summary

Tolko Industries is seeking a Safety Manager to partner with our mills, woodlands, and operational teams across the organization. This role provides strategic leadership, strengthens safety culture, and champions practical, people-focused solutions to reduce risk and improve daily outcomes.

The ideal candidate has 7–10 years in senior OHS roles, professional certification (CRSP/CSP), and proven ability to influence across sites. Up to 70% travel and relocation support are available as needed.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years in a senior occupational health and safety role, manufacturing/industrial setting.
• Experience collaborating across multiple sites to drive real change.
• Professional certification in Occupational Health and Safety (CRSP/CSP) preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian and U.S. OHS regulations and compliance.
• Ability to influence and partner with leaders to embed safety into daily decisions.
• Strong business acumen and curiosity to understand operations, risks and production realities.
• Excellent communication to present complex information to frontline teams and executives.
• Experience developing, implementing, and auditing safety programs and policies.
• Training program development and delivery experience.
• Analytical thinker with problem-solving and report-writing skills.
• Ability to manage sensitive information with integrity and discretion.

Responsibilities

• Act as strategic partner to operations on OHS matters.
• Provide leadership to Safety and Asset Protection Advisors (Canada) and Safety Managers (U.S.).
• Lead regulatory compliance initiatives across Tolko jurisdictions.
• Drive implementation and continuous improvement of Tolko’s safety standards and culture.
• Partner with Woodlands Managers to develop contractor safety programs.
• Coach leaders to strengthen safety accountability.
• Lead development and delivery of OHS and safety leadership training.
• Oversee Claims Management Program to support injured employees.
• Develop and execute internal and external audit programs.
• Report on safety performance and regulatory changes to leadership and board.

We’re looking for a Safety Manager to partner with our mills, woodlands, and operational teams across the organization. This role can be based out of any location we have an office or operating facility. Strong relationships are built on‑site, and this role involves up to 70% travel, depending on which Tolko office you call home.

Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

• Minimum 7-10 years experience in a senior occupational health and safety role, preferably in manufacturing or industrial settings.
• Proven experience collaborating across multiple sites to influence real, on‑the‑ground change.
• Professional certification in Occupational Health and Safety (such as CRSP, CSP, or equivalent) preferred.
• Strong understanding of Canadian and U.S. occupational health and safety regulations and compliance requirements.

• Capacity to manage sensitive and confidential information with integrity and discretion.

In this role, you will:

• Act as a strategic partner to operations and leaders on all occupational health and safety matters.
• Provide leadership and guidance to Safety and Asset Protection Advisors (Canada) and Safety Managers (U.S.).
• Lead regulatory compliance initiatives across all Tolko operating jurisdictions.
• Drive implementation and continuous improvement of Tolko’s safety standards, with a strong focus on leadership behaviours and safety culture.
• Partner with Woodlands Managers to develop and sustain effective contractor safety programs.
• Coach and influence leaders at all levels to strengthen safety accountability and consistency.
• Lead development and delivery of occupational health and safety and safety leadership training.
• Oversee our Claims Management Program to support injured employees and minimize disruptions.
• Develop and execute internal and external audit programs to measure compliance and program effectiveness.
• Report on safety performance, inspections, regulatory changes, and emerging issues to leadership, the Board, and external stakeholders.
