Responsibilities

OVERALL PURPOSE:


Provides support to safety program, policy development and implementation. Provides general coordination and administrative support to the safety department. Liaises with the training department in the development of safety related training materials and ensures they are aligned with regulatory and safety program requirements.

Provides communications for the programs and services provided by the Safety, Environment and Emergency Management department. Promotes the programs; responds to employee, management, and other internal or external stakeholder inquiries; and interpreting the policies, procedures and the collective agreement provisions Supports and coordinates the implementation of incident investigation and audit compliances. Provides support to managers and supervisors to facilitate the implementation of programs in different departments. Supports the development of the metrics to track and measure the program implementation. Provides feedback on program performance to relevant stakeholders; monitors the corrective actions.

Qualifications

EDUCATION


Requires completion of post-secondary diploma in Occupational health & safety.


EXPERIENCE


Requires 2 years of experience in implementation and administration of safety program and policy development. A further period of up to six (6) months on the job is required to become familiar with the existing systems and processes.

Other Information

Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.

Work Schedule

40 hours per week.

Rate of Pay

Wage: $39.51 per hour


Please note: All new employees will be subject to a 6-week trainee rate at 75% of the hourly rate.
