Job summary

DMC Recruitment Group partners with a local Kelowna leader in the concrete industry to hire a Safety Coordinator in Kelowna, BC. This hands-on role focuses on maintaining and developing a strong safety culture, applying WorkSafeBC regulations, and shaping company-wide safety initiatives.

You’ll lead trainings, inspections, incident investigations, and environmental reporting while collaborating with management across multiple locations.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Kinesiology, Occupational Therapy, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in an occupational health and safety role within an industrial, manufacturing, construction, or related environment.
  • Strong knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations and safety compliance.
  • Valid driver's licence with a clean driving abstract.
  • Level 2 First Aid (Level 3 preferred).
  • WHMIS, Confined Space, and Fall Protection certifications.
  • CRSP or CSP designation is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and promote a positive safety culture throughout the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations and company safety policies.
  • Develop, implement, and improve safety procedures, safe work practices, and standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and safety audits.
  • Investigate incidents, complete reports, and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage WorkSafeBC claims and support return-to-work and modified duty programs.
  • Coordinate employee safety training, orientations, and ongoing education.
  • Plan and lead monthly safety meetings across multiple locations.
  • Maintain safety records, documentation, and regulatory reporting.
  • Manage PPE inventory and ensure safety equipment remains compliant and up to date.
  • Oversee environmental reporting and compliance while liaising with regulatory agencies when required.
  • Partner with leadership to identify risks and implement preventative safety initiatives.

Our client, a well-established and locally owned leader in the concrete industry, is looking for a Safety Coordinator to join their team in Kelowna, BC.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive health and safety professional who is passionate about maintaining and developing a strong safety culture, creating best practices, and ensuring employees return home safely every day. You'll play a key role in shaping company-wide safety initiatives while working closely with management and employees across multiple locations.

What You'll Do

The ideal candidate is an organized, hands-on safety professional who enjoys working in industrial environments and building strong relationships with employees at all levels.
