Job summary

Sil Industrial Minerals in Bruderheim, AB is seeking a Safety Coordinator to provide safety leadership in a busy plant, coordinating incidents, training, and audits to ensure compliance and safety culture.

The role requires knowledge of OH&S regulations, industrial hygiene (silica), and ability to perform ACSA audits, plus strong communication and teamwork; travel may be required. The position offers a 7 on/7 off, 12-hour days, on-call schedule and on-site work.

Qualifications

• Detailed knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
• Experience working in an active plant setting.
• Must have good understanding of Industrial Hygiene, especially with Silica.
• Must have the ability to perform ACSA audit.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Must be a team player.

Responsibilities

• Provide support, direction, and training to supervisors and employees.
• Prepare and attend safety meetings.
• Perform safety coaching opportunities in the field.
• Coordinate and carry out prompt investigations of workplace incidents.
• Assist in conducting formal and informal safety audits.
• Generate incident reports and hazard assessments, and provide recommendations and implement corrective actions.
• Participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings and initiatives.
• Use of online safety database system to file site safety documents.
• This position may include short travel, depending on projects.
• Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.

Schedule: 7 on / 7 off, 12 Hours/day, ON-CALL, Schedule as per Operational Requirements

Location: Bruderheim, AB – 570079 Range Rd 204, non-camp position, required to live in the area, approximately 12 km north of Bruderheim on Range Road 204

Essential: Hard-working, reliable, flexible with schedule, ability to work in physically demanding conditions

Requirements:

• Personal Reliable Vehicle
• CSA approved steel toed boots with 6” ankle support
• Clean Driver’s Abstract, Valid Driver’s License

Pre-employment:

• Drug and alcohol testing (swab-based test)
• Successful completion of Company Orientation and site-specific orientation
• Mask Fit Testing
• Baseline Testing (respiratory)
