Job description

E. Corbiere and Sons Contracting, a family-owned contracting company operating since 2000, is looking to add a Safety Advisor/Fleet Manager to our team.

Overview:

The Safety Advisor/Fleet Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring a safe work environment for all employees.

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee our company’s vehicle fleet operations
  2. Develop and implement safety policies and procedures
  3. Conduct regular safety inspections and audits
  4. Manage the maintenance, repair, and replacement of vehicles to ensure efficient and safe operations
  5. Investigate accidents and incidents to identify root causes and prevent future occurrences
  6. Provide safety training to employees on various topics including hazard recognition and emergency response
  7. Monitor fuel usage, maintenance costs, and overall fleet performance
  8. Collaborate with management to address safety concerns and improve overall safety performance
  9. Maintain Employee Training Matrix and 3rd party compliance sites (IE Contractor Compliance, ISNetworld); coordinate training as required.
  10. Assist in claims in the event of incidents/accidents, liaise with local and regional authorities, WSIB, MOL, MTO, and other regulatory agencies. Be available in the event of an incident/accident during all field operating hours.

Skills:

  1. Prior experience in a health and safety role, preference will be given to those with experience in the construction industry.
  2. Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations
  3. Mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting vehicle issues
  4. Strong customer service skills for interacting with drivers and vendors
  5. Ability to analyze data and identify trends to improve safety performance
  6. Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (OSHA) is preferred

This is an in-person role with occasional travel within North Eastern Ontario.
